Associate Scientist, Translational Medicine

Position Summary

Loxo Oncology at Lilly conducts discovery research, clinical development and regulatory affairs for oncology, with the goal of creating a pipeline of therapies that have the potential to make a meaningful difference for patients. Loxo Oncology at Lilly was created in December 2019, combining the Lilly Research Laboratories oncology organization and Loxo Oncology, which was acquired by Lilly in early 2019. The unit has team members in Boulder, CO, Indianapolis, IN, New York City, South San Francisco, Stamford, CT, and Madrid, Spain.

With hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture and routine molecular biology techniques, the Associate Scientist, Translational Medicine will support lab-based translational research projects associated with Loxo Oncology at Lilly’s preclinical and early development programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing a broad range of in vitro cell-based, molecular, and biochemical assays to characterize the activity and mechanism of action of our lead compounds. 

Roles and Responsibilities of the Position*

  • Execute a variety of in vitro cell-based assays in mammalian cell lines and primary cells, stable cell line generation via lentiviral transduction, conditional gene knockdown/expression.
  • Perform protein analysis using Western blot, immunoprecipitation, ELISA, MSD and flow cytometry.
  • Perform gene expression analysis using RT-qPCR and NGS.
  • Analyze and interpret data, with ability to troubleshoot assays.

Required Qualifications and Background

  • B.S. or M.Sc. in biology, molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry or related discipline, with 2+ years lab-based experience in a biotech/pharma setting.
  • Extensive experience with culturing adherent and non-adherent mammalian cell lines and primary cells using excellent sterile technique.
  • Proficiency in routine molecular biology techniques.
  • Self-organized, detail-oriented, self-directed, highly motivated, with strong analytical and documentation skills.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively and incorporate diverse perspectives into decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a nimble, fast-paced matrixed environment.
