Senior Director, Cell Biology

Location: Boulder, CO or Indianapolis, IN

Reports To:

Vice President, Small Molecule Biology

Position Summary

Loxo Oncology at Lilly conducts discovery research, clinical development and regulatory affairs for oncology, with the goal of creating a pipeline of therapies that have the potential to make a meaningful difference for patients. Loxo Oncology at Lilly was created in December 2019, combining the Lilly Research Laboratories oncology organization and Loxo Oncology, which was acquired by Lilly in early 2019. The unit has team members in Boulder, CO, Indianapolis, IN, New York City, South San Francisco, Stamford, CT, and Madrid, Spain.

The Senior Director, Cell Biology will be responsible for directing cell-based research across multiple programs with a focus on understanding cellular signaling and function at a molecular level including protein-protein and protein-small molecule interactions. The mechanistic studies will provide individual project teams with rigorous mechanistic characterizations to differentiate the activities of small molecules, advance novel drug targeting strategies, develop specialized assays for drug discovery project teams, understand drug resistance and feedback mechanisms, and identify novel compounds targeting specific proteins. The mechanistic biology teams work closely with other project team members across disciplines including structural biology, medicinal chemistry, in vitro pharmacology, and translational biology. This senior director will interact closely with their team scientists, company leaders, and other functional teams to identify, prioritize, and execute experiments leading to in-depth understanding of cellular molecular mechanisms and differential effects of small molecule compounds on cell-based readouts.
